Shield Radiology Consultants will bill the patient’s auto insurance Company / personal injury protection directly using the -26 modifier for our services.
DOCTORS LIEN
Shield Radiology Consultants will hold a Doctors Lien with your patient. We will work directly and in good faith with their attorney regarding payment for the services we rendered following the personal injury settlement.

PHYSICIAN’S PROFESSIONAL COURTESY PLAN
Shield Radiology Consultants will bill the referring physician utilizing the Physician Professional Courtesy $20.00 then $10.00 Payment Plan. A $20.00 fee is applied for the first skeletal region submitted; with a $10.00 fee for each additional skeletal region submitted. All patient images must be from the same examination date. This payment method has a 30 day net. This Payment option is excellent for those patients whose insurance will not cover the radiographic consultation / second opinion by a board certified chiropractically trained radiologist or those patients with financial hardship.
MEDICAL INSURANCE
Shield Radiology Consultants will bill the patient’s major medical insurance company directly using the -26 modifier. The patient will then be billed by our office for the appropriate co-pay or deductible payment. When dealing with HMOs & PPOs, we encourage the referring office to pre-authorize our radiology consultation to avoid total denials or large co-pays that become the patient’s responsibility.
PATIENT BILLING
Shield Radiology Consultants will bill the patient directly for our consulting services rendered. This payment method has a 30 day net. Appropriate patient information and signatures are required to assist in appropriate billing and if necessary collection efforts.
PHYSICIAN BILLING & COMPENSATION AGREEMENT
Shield Radiology Consultants will hold a Physician Billing & Compensation Agreement directly with the referring physician. We will be paid for our services rendered by the referring physician following the personal injury settlement. This payment method has a 30 day net following any financial recovery by the referring physician’s office. We agree not to initiate any direct patient billing or collection efforts before any financial recovery by the referring physician’s office. The referring physician’s office agrees to provide written notification to Shield Radiology of changes in the patient’s case status. This billing option is useful for third party claims, when no attorney is retained by the patient.
